Pain Management Therapy

Reaching in the early 40s, people need to deal with their chronic pains, and physical therapy tends to be one of the best choices they could make to relieve their pains. Physical therapy helps people to become stronger and feel free to make movements even better. According to Tiziano Marovino (a DPT, MPH, DAIPM, and chief Health Strategy in Ypsilanti, MI), physical therapists provide a multitude of treatments, instead of simply prescribing medicines, physical therapy still showed prosperity in terms of helping people with injuries and severe pains by dealing with their sources such as,

· Fibromyalgia

· Osteoarthritis

· Rheumatoid arthritis,

· Chronic headaches and

· Neuropathic pain

Moreover, the side effects of drugs used for relieving pain only give temporary relief with nausea, dizziness, Itching or sweating, weak immune system, and depression. Therefore, considering physical therapy is in no way deniable, as said by Tamara Dangerfield (and MPT and physical therapist at the University of Utah Health), physical therapy is way much better than pain killers in different circumstances, mainly for musculoskeletal conditions. Furthermore, movement-based physical therapies are more useful for controlling pains in elders above 40. It also reduces age factors and improves their mood, blood pressure, calcium density in bones, sleep, endurance, and control of weight.

According to statistics, the disability rate of Pakistan is 2.65%, with disabled 5.935 million people approx. Thus, the Pakistan Physical Therapy Association (PPTA) provides a wide range of physical services, most people are approaching physical therapists to cure their pains either due to injuries or muscle tension. Physical therapists usually work with medical doctors given services in different areas of specialty, including neurology, pediatrics, orthopedics, gerontology, cardiology, occupational medicine, and others. Consequently, taking advice from physical therapists is way better than taking medicines for the whole life. Individuals usually need to visit in different sessions and practice several exercises (according to the injury and pain conditions) at home for better results.

How does physical therapy help cure pain?

As mentioned earlier physical therapists aim to read pain by reducing the sources that cause pain. For instance, Osteoarthritis causes pain in joints (mostly in elders reaching their 40s to 50s); thus, the physical therapists look for areas of stiffness/weakness and the main cause and help people with Osteoarthritis to easily walk, kneel, bend, sit, and squat.

Additionally, in several sessions, the physical therapists make suffering people a mix of different exercise;

Aerobic Training:

Aerobic training, mainly low-impact, includes workouts that make an individual’s heart rate rev up without putting pressure on the joints, for example, instead of running, the person asked to walk fast or use the stationary cycle to warm up ready to body for strengthening exercises.

Strengthening exercises:

Secondly, for strengthening exercises, physical therapists ask individuals to perform exercises using machines or self-oriented exercises such as squats, lunges, and push-ups to make the body finer.

Pain relief exercises:

After basic exercises, a physical therapist helps individuals to reduce their pains. These particular exercises target the pain area and help you become more flexible a healthier to live life to the fullest.

Stretching:

Stretching enhance the body’s flexibility; however, the physical therapist makes sure to keep stretching only at a fundamental level rather than going too far.

Furthermore, the physical therapist may prescribe the exercises mentioned above to do at home daily.

Physical therapies for Pain Management

As Tom Waston (a clinical director, PT, and DPT in Bend, Ore) said that physical therapy helps patients with chronic pains become stronger as they walk due to no movement. It teaches them to make movement safely and make their bodies more functional in ways they were unable to do before. Despite dealing with sources of pain, physical therapy provides;

· Fortitude

· Steadiness in Joints

· Vigour

· Resilience in muscles and joints

Choosing the right physical therapy combination

As seen, the PT is exceptionally effective in curing pains, yet it is necessary to understand which approach or combination will help you deal with chorionic pains. Therefore, nutritional-based medicines, heat, and cold therapies, TENS- Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulations therapy are excellent options to adapt along with physical therapy. It is also advised to consult a medical doctor as well to keep track of your internal body condition) and also to prescribe medicines if needed). So, the physical therapist can help you choose a better combination to treat your pains.
